Brewers Win First World Series Title in Franchise History
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, capturing the first World Series championship in the franchise's 58-year history. Young pitcher Jacob Misiorowski threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings of two-hit ball, and rookie Cooper Pratt drove in two runs while setting a Series rookie record with six straight hits. The title comes after the Brewers' only prior World Series appearance in 1982 ended in a Game 7 loss to St. Louis. Manager Pat Murphy's squad finished 11-2 in the postseason, including seven comeback wins and a sweep of the Dodgers in the NLCS.
