American Space Museum Auctions Neil Armstrong Flight Suit Starting Noon Saturday
The American Space Museum at 308 Pine Street in downtown Titusville, Florida, is holding its 45th charity auction with bidding opening at noon Saturday on approximately 400 items. The highlight lot is a flight suit made for and worn by Neil Armstrong during Apollo 11 training, estimated to sell for $800,000–$1.2 million, paired with trousers expected to fetch $50,000–$75,000. Museum board member Chuck Jeffrey said the sale would benefit the nonprofit's operations and its U.S. Space Walk of Fame Foundation, which maintains monuments at Titusville's Space View Park. The suit is described as the third set made for Armstrong and the only one available for private ownership.
