Fruitland Park Teen's Pickup Fatally Strikes Pedestrian in Volusia County
An 18-year-old Fruitland Park driver struck and killed a 32-year-old pedestrian from Providence, Utah, at approximately 5:25 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 92 (East International Speedway Boulevard) and County Road 4101 (North Kepler Road) in Volusia County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the pedestrian crossed eastbound lanes against a red "Don't Walk" signal; the teen swerved but the pickup's right side struck him, throwing him into an outside lane where he was hit by a second vehicle. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, while both drivers were uninjured and remained on site. FHP continues to investigate.
