Spearfish Police Urge Sober Rides Ahead of Halloween Weekend
The Spearfish Police Department, in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's "Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving" campaign, is reminding residents to arrange designated drivers or rideshare before attending Halloween parties. Police Chief Collin Smith urged anyone who plans to drink to stay away from the driver's seat. Officers also reminded motorists to watch for increased pedestrian traffic after dark, especially children trick-or-treating in neighborhoods. The advisory extends to people traveling between communities across western South Dakota and northeast Wyoming.
