South Dakota Board Approves $6.1M Tax Rebates for State's Largest Wind Project
South Dakota's Board of Economic Development voted Tuesday to authorize up to $6.1 million in sales tax rebates for Philip Wind Partners, a subsidiary of Chicago-based Invenergy developing the state's largest wind farm north of Philip. The $750 million, 333-megawatt project spans about 110 square miles and will include up to 87 turbines and 5.5 miles of transmission line, with construction underway and operations expected in 2028. The company projects creating roughly 200 construction jobs and 12 long-term positions, while paying an estimated $85 million to landowners and $50 million in property taxes over 30 years. The board also approved a $8,845.87 rebate for Sioux Falls-based OmegaQuant Analytics under the New Frontiers program.
