FSU Fires Football Coach Mike Norvell After Seven Seasons
Florida State University fired head football coach Mike Norvell on Sunday, Nov. 1, following a 36-24 home loss to Clemson at Doak Campbell Stadium. Norvell finished with a 41-39 record over nearly seven seasons, including a 10-23 stretch since the College Football Playoff committee left undefeated FSU out of the four-team playoff on Dec. 3, 2023. The Seminoles went 2-10 in 2024, 5-7 last season, and were 3-5 this season when the university made the decision. Former athletic director Michael Alford had extended Norvell's contract after the 2023 season, leaving the athletic department facing a buyout of roughly $50 million.
