Mother Charged with Capital Murder After Infant Found in Fort Worth Motel Dumpster
Avia Cantrell faces capital murder charges after police allege she drowned her newborn daughter at a west Fort Worth motel immediately after giving birth. Her boyfriend, Camron Baker, was charged with abuse of corpse for allegedly disposing of the infant's body in a dumpster at Drummers Inn. The discovery occurred Sunday night when a woman found the baby while dumpster diving. Police remind residents of Texas Safe Haven laws that allow anonymous surrender of unharmed infants up to 60 days old.
