McKinney Teen Arrested for Alleged Plot to Assassinate Rep. Keith Self
A 17-year-old McKinney, Texas resident was arrested Oct. 5 after allegedly obtaining a firearm and planning to assassinate U.S. Rep. Keith Self and carry out a terrorist attack in North Texas on behalf of ISIS, federal officials said. Sources told WFAA-TV that the teen had been recently radicalized and under federal monitoring; authorities have not released his name or stated a motive. Rep. Self, who represents Texas' 3rd District including McKinney, said his family is safe and thanked the FBI and law enforcement for stopping the threat.
