Airman Killed in Rappelling Accident at Alamodome Before UTSA Football Game
An airman assigned to the 6th Combat Training Squadron, Detachment 2, from Nellis Air Force Base was killed Saturday during a rappelling demonstration before the University of Texas at San Antonio versus U.S. Naval Academy football game at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The event was UTSA's annual Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans celebration. The service member was transported to an area hospital where they later died; their name has not been released. UTSA President Taylor Eighmy issued a statement expressing condolences, and the incident remains under investigation.
