Man Dies in Roller Coaster Fall at Six Flags Over Georgia; Park Reopens Friday
Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, 42, died Oct. 12 after being ejected from the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia and falling beneath the attraction, striking other patrons before his fall, according to the Cobb County Police Department's major crimes unit. Georgia Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner John King said his office inspected all rides before the park season began and is now conducting a thorough on-site investigation. The park is set to reopen Friday, with Democratic challenger Keisha Sean Waites urging additional inspections before reopening. All of Georgia's constitutional offices are up for reelection in the Nov. 3 midterms.
