DNA Analysis Identifies Remains as Conyers Woman Missing Since 1997
Human remains found near Christian Circle in Conyers, Georgia, in 2016 have been confirmed through DNA analysis as those of Tammy Fortson, who vanished from the Fox Chase Court area in 1997. The identification was completed in July with assistance from the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and the medical examiner. Authorities say the circumstances surrounding Fortson's death remain under investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact the Newton County Sheriff's Office at 470-426-4294.
