Judge Recommends Dismissing Misconduct Case Against Clay County Teacher
In an Oct. 21 ruling, Division of Administrative Hearings Judge Suzanne Van Wyk recommended dismissing a Department of Education misconduct case against Kelly Brock-Sanchez, an ESE teacher at Ridgeview Elementary School in Clay County, Florida. The DOE had sought to discipline Brock-Sanchez over a Sept. 10, 2025 Facebook post celebrating the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, alleging it was made on a public page. Van Wyk found the page was private and that the viral spread resulted from another user's sharing decision, not Brock-Sanchez's. The post nonetheless caused disruption at Ridgeview Elementary, including threatening messages that led some teachers to leave school early.
