Broken Bow Council Approves Housing Authority Tax Waiver
The Broken Bow City Council approved Resolution 2026-29 on Tuesday, Oct. 27, waiving the Broken Bow Housing Authority's payment in lieu of taxes obligations for fiscal years 2024 through 2026 and establishing automatic waivers through fiscal year 2029 unless the city provides 90-day written notice. New director Camryn Hall reported the organization is approximately $71,000 into its reserves and operating with a roughly 20% vacancy rate across its 84 units, including 40 one-bedroom apartments at Custer Heights Tower and 44 scattered-site duplexes and houses. Hall noted income eligibility limits have increased, with a family of four potentially qualifying at an annual income approaching $79,000. Council members expressed support for maintaining affordable housing opportunities and directed the Housing Authority to provide annual updates.
