Broken Bow Council Postpones Livestock Ordinance Vote to Nov. 10
The Broken Bow City Council voted unanimously Tuesday, Oct. 13, to postpone action on Ordinance 1323, which would amend Chapter 93 of the municipal code to regulate livestock and poultry within city limits, including a proposed six-chicken cap, species restrictions, space requirements, and enclosure setbacks. Residents spoke both for and against provisions during the public hearing, with concerns raised about flock-size limits, single-animal mandates for social species like goats and sheep, and grandfather-clause registration requirements. City Administrator David Schmidt recommended the delay to allow legal and zoning review; further action is set for Nov. 10. In other business, the council approved Ordinance 1325 creating a city planner position, appointed LeAnne Morgan as Deputy Clerk/Treasurer and Jacob Holcomb as City Planner, and authorized a $118,368.52 lease-purchase of a robotic sewer inspection camera system.
