Family Seeks Closure of 7th Street Bridge Gap After Woman Found Dead
Police identified a body found around 9:45 a.m. Friday under the 7th Street Bridge in Kansas City, Kansas as Monica Rivera, 24, a mother of two. Agency spokesperson Nancy Chartrand told The Kansas City Star that preliminary investigations indicate her death was "a tragic accident" involving a gap between the bridge's north and south lanes. Rivera's aunt started a petition to close the gap, which received 270 signatures in three hours. Family members held a candlelight vigil under the bridge Sunday night.
