Tucson City Council staff will present survey results showing residents want advanced manufacturing jobs, particularly semiconductors, while protecting water and environmental resources. The council will vote on selling $10 million in bonds to rehabilitate Craycroft Towers (1635 N. Craycroft Rd.) and Lee Street Duplexes (5455 E. Lee St.), converting 81 public housing units into Section 8 senior housing for residents earning under 50% of HUD median income. Council members will also vote on updated commercial water harvesting rules requiring more trees in parking lots, a $10 monthly increase in the downtown employee parking allowance, and a $4 million Tucson Police Department technology grant for new patrol vehicles. Safe City initiative metrics show gains in bus stop safety and homeless services but struggles with cleanup efforts and violent crime in high-risk areas.

A Marshall Project report details how Arizona's identification requirements create barriers for unhoused people seeking housing, healthcare, employment and voting access in Tucson. The article highlights VoteRiders, a nonprofit that assists residents with obtaining IDs at Tucson library branches, having helped nearly 1,900 people statewide this year. Arizona voters will consider a November ballot measure to enshrine existing photo-ID requirements into the state constitution and expand them to by-mail voting. Advocates note that camping bans following the 2024 Supreme Court ruling have increased document loss among unhoused residents, while Arizona's expanded food-stamp documentation rules have caused hundreds of thousands to drop from the program.
