Wildwood Commissioners Approve 580-Home Oxford Development
Wildwood commissioners approved the Canan Lakes family subdivision Monday night, clearing the way for up to 580 homes on a 145-acre site near county roads 466 and 209 in Oxford. The rezoning to low-density residential allows up to four single-family homes per acre, and the project was reviewed by the state before final City Commission action. Developed by ACM Orlando Properties, Canan Lakes is expected to add 190 students to the school district and generate nearly 5,000 daily trips, requiring Sumter County to widen CR 209. Neighbors raised concerns about increased traffic and water supply depletion during the approval process.
