Officer Who Killed 1-Year-Old in Senatobia Resigns After Being Cleared
Sgt. Hunter Foster, a police officer in Senatobia, Mississippi, resigned Friday after the state Attorney General cleared him of criminal wrongdoing in the June 14 shooting death of 1-year-old Kohen Wiley. The incident occurred in a Walmart parking lot when Foster fired into a moving vehicle during a response to a shoplifting call. While the state concluded his use of force was justified, the family’s attorney disputes this, citing body-camera footage and an independent autopsy that suggest the fatal shot came from the side of the car. The family has called for federal investigation and Foster’s decertification as a police officer.
