81-Year-Old Man Killed in New Albany Home Invasion; Suspect Shot Himself
Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards reported that an 81-year-old man identified as Bobby McGill was shot and killed around 4 a.m. Thursday during a home invasion in New Albany, Mississippi. The suspect, Eric Basco, allegedly entered the home to burglarize it; a woman present escaped and called 911 while McGill attempted to fight off the intruder. Authorities said Basco obtained McGill's gun and fatally shot him before entering a bathroom and shooting himself. Basco is recovering at a hospital.
