DOJ Observers to Monitor Pima County Nov. 3 General Election

Pima County will have U.S. Department of Justice observers present during the Nov. 3 General Election, continuing a federal monitoring practice in place since the 1970s. DOJ monitors check compliance with Section 203 of the Voting Rights Act, which requires voting materials in both English and Spanish, as well as Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility requirements. Congressional observers operate under the Confirmation of Congressional Observer Access Act of 2024 and may observe polling places, ballot processing, tabulation, and voter registration activities but cannot handle ballots or election equipment.

Nearly 200 Honor Dolores Huerta at Wednesday Tucson Vigil

Separately, Pima County officials announced plans Tuesday to rename César Chávez Remembrance Day to Farmworkers Appreciation Day, and the coalition rebranded its annual event as the Comunidad y Labor Unity Fair.
