A 34-year-old Garden City woman was released without charges after her Chevrolet pickup rolled from a parking space onto soccer fields at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas, on Saturday afternoon, killing 6-year-old Cole Adrian and 35-year-old Nicholas Schafer of McPherson. Ten others were hospitalized with noncritical injuries during the youth game. The Wichita Police Department interviewed the driver and more than 30 witnesses, confirmed she had a valid license and no warrants, and released her pending toxicology results and a mechanical examination of the vehicle. Federal prosecutors charged 24-year-old Jaden John Read of Clearwater, Kansas, with making threats against President Trump after he posted comments on KAKE and KWCH Facebook posts about Trump's Monday rally in Park City. A Crime Stoppers tip Thursday led to his arrest Saturday in Clearwater; the posts allegedly referenced a .308 rifle and stated he had 'mapped out roofs around' the speech venue. U.S. Attorney Ryan A. Kriegshauser said political violence threats will not be tolerated while acknowledging First Amendment constraints. Read faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted; no detention hearing date or attorney was listed in court records as of Monday afternoon.

President Trump spoke Monday in Park City, Kansas, at a rally supporting Republican U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, who faces Democrat Adam Hamilton in a reelection race. The Kansas City Star fact-checked multiple claims made during the event, including assertions about border security, foreign investment totals, auto manufacturing growth, and Marshall's medical-debt lawsuits against former patients. The fact-check also addressed Trump's characterization of a 2005 church abuse case involving Hamilton, noting court documents do not name Hamilton as directly involved in the initial report. Additional claims checked included statements about refugees, the 2020 election, and protests in France.
