Kelvin Chiu, 31, an athletic trainer at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, was arrested on suspicion of sexually battering a 16-year-old girl and recording the assault on his phone. The alleged incident occurred Oct. 8 just before 7:30 p.m. at the school on Mitty Way while Chiu was treating the student's sports injury. A search warrant led to Chiu's arrest in Fremont on Friday, where detectives allegedly found child sex abuse material on his cellphone. San Jose police say additional victims may exist due to Chiu's position of trust and are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Camarillo or Detective Widmer at 408-277-4102.

The Trump administration has suspended Microsoft and Bay Area-based Adobe from the employer-sponsored green card program, a move VP JD Vance outlined on October 8 that could affect thousands of H-1B workers seeking permanent residency in the region. Legal experts warn the policy may effectively halt the path to permanent residency for many tech-sector employees across the Bay Area. The administration is also investigating J-1 visa programs at Stanford University, UC Davis, and seven other universities for alleged abuse. Immigration attorneys and technology professionals say the suspension creates significant uncertainty for both employers and workers.
