Warm Through Friday, Windy Cooldown Arrives Weekend in Western South Dakota

Western South Dakota and northeastern Wyoming will see highs in the 70s Tuesday, with Rapid City reaching about 75 degrees, before a weak cold front moves through late Tuesday night. A ridge of high pressure Thursday into Friday could push temperatures to the upper 70s and lower 80s, with Philip forecast at 83 degrees. A stronger system arriving Friday into Saturday will bring wind gusts around 40 mph and cooler weekend highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Rain chances remain limited across the region, though mountain snow is possible in the Absaroka and Bighorn ranges, with up to a half-inch of total precipitation on higher-elevation routes west of Sheridan.
