Parents of Alex Pretti Say Federal Government Shielding Officers Who Killed Him
Michael and Susan Pretti spoke at a Tuesday news conference in Minneapolis, alleging the federal government has shielded immigration enforcement officers who killed their son Alex Pretti on January 24 during deportation operations targeting Minnesota. The parents said no federal official contacted them with substantive information in nine months, and they called for DOJ accountability. Federal prosecutors disclosed in recent court filings that they stopped sharing evidence with Minnesota authorities investigating the January killings of Pretti and Renee Good by federal officers. Court records show Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse at a veterans hospital, had no criminal record, and bystander video showed he held only a mobile phone when shot. Minnesota officials sued the Trump administration in March seeking access to officer cellphones and interview recordings for their independent investigation.
