Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon discussed his office's multi-month coordination with sheriffs, police chiefs, and county attorneys to ensure state and federal laws protecting polling places are enforced on Election Day. Concerns follow March remarks by U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche at CPAC about sending ICE officers to polling places, though DHS has stated it does not plan such operations. Simon advised community organizers to avoid preemptively deploying volunteers to guard polling sites without evidence of an incident, warning it could create confusion among voters. A DHS spokesperson confirmed ICE is not planning operations targeting polling locations but would respond to incidents if called upon by local law enforcement.
