Woman Released Without Charges After Pickup Killed 2 at Wichita Soccer Complex
A 34-year-old Garden City woman was released without charges after her Chevrolet pickup rolled from a parking space onto soccer fields at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas, on Saturday afternoon, killing 6-year-old Cole Adrian and 35-year-old Nicholas Schafer of McPherson. Ten others were hospitalized with noncritical injuries during the youth game. The Wichita Police Department interviewed the driver and more than 30 witnesses, confirmed she had a valid license and no warrants, and released her pending toxicology results and a mechanical examination of the vehicle. Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett's Office said Monday it plans an initial review of the case later this week.
