Yosemite Tioga Road Closed Wednesday; Snow Forecast Friday-Saturday
Tioga Road (Highway 120) through Yosemite National Park was temporarily closed Wednesday evening ahead of a storm forecast bringing two or more inches of snow on Friday and slightly less on Saturday. Meteorologist Sean Macaday said most of the snow is set to melt quickly, with Valley-bottom highs near 60 degrees Saturday and closer to 70 Sunday. Several trails north of Wawona remain closed due to the Dome Fire, which was announced as fully contained this week after burning for more than a month; the rest of the park is open. The next few weeks represent the last opportunity to visit before Tioga Pass closes for the season, historically around mid-November.
