Yosemite Tioga Road Closed; 2+ Inches Snow Forecast Oct. 23-24

Tioga Road (Highway 120) in Yosemite National Park was temporarily closed Wednesday evening ahead of a storm expected to drop two or more inches of snow on Friday and slightly less on Saturday. Meteorologist Sean Macaday said most of the snow is set to melt quickly, with Valley temperatures reaching 60 degrees Saturday and near 70 Sunday. Overnight lows will drop below freezing by mid-next week, and Tioga Pass historically closes for the season in mid-November. Several trails north of Wawona remain closed due to the Dome Fire, which was announced as fully contained this week after burning for more than a month; the rest of the park is open.
