Fairfield Couple, Richmond Man Sentenced for 2020 I-80 Ambush Killing in San Pablo
Three defendants were sentenced via plea deal with the Contra Costa District Attorney's office for a 2020 ambush shooting on Interstate 80 in San Pablo that killed Kevin Santisteban, 20, of Richmond. Camile McAlister, 29, of Fairfield received 12 years for voluntary manslaughter as the alleged driver; Jorge Vazquez, 27, of Fairfield and Tyejuan Shepherd, 24, of Richmond each received 32 years on manslaughter and attempted murder charges. Investigators said the attack was retaliation for a prior homicide, with the couple's car spotted near Santisteban's Richmond home about 30 minutes before the shooting. The suspected murder weapon was traded through Solano County towns including Vacaville, Dixon, and Fairfield. Vazquez and Shepherd were transferred to state prison on Oct. 12.
