Macon County Sheriff Employee Fired for License Plate Reader Misuse
The Macon County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina terminated employee Jonathan Bean following an internal investigation into the misuse of license plate readers. The office received a complaint from a credible outside agency on Oct. 16 and placed Bean on administrative leave before verifying the allegations. This action follows a July vote by county commissioners to defund the local Flock Safety camera program due to privacy concerns.
