Winston-Salem police say widespread brawling by numerous groups of unsupervised juveniles overwhelmed officers at the Carolina Classic Fair on Sunday evening, Oct. 12, forcing the fair to close at 9:45 p.m. Approximately 50 individuals were ejected from the grounds, and about 20 to 30 teens later vandalized a store on University Parkway after leaving the fairgrounds. Police said an investigation is underway and criminal charges will be requested, though no arrests or injuries had been detailed as of the Oct. 12 news release. The 2026 Carolina Classic Fair ran from Oct. 1 through Oct. 12 and drew 212,000 patrons.
