Livermore Council District 2 Candidates Debate Housing, Safety at Oct. 5 Forum
Incumbent Ben Barrientos and challenger Narayan Tadimeti outlined differing approaches to housing affordability, public safety, and development at an Oct. 5 candidate forum for the Livermore City Council District 2 race, the only contested council seat this election season. The winner will represent northeast Livermore through 2030. Barrientos proposed a downtown park replacing the Downtown Livermore Apartments by Eden Housing, flashing lights at North Vasco Road intersections, and bike paths on I-580 overpasses, while arguing affordable housing requires federal policy shifts. Tadimeti emphasized balanced growth, suggested discretionary funds for rental vouchers and small-business security upgrades, and opposed annexing land east of Greenville Road for industrial use.
