Federal Agents Seize Rep. Omar's Phone, Issue Subpoenas in Immigration Probe
Federal authorities investigating Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar seized her phone and issued more than a dozen grand jury subpoenas, including to relatives, as part of a probe into potential immigration paperwork fraud, according to a person briefed on the investigation. Agents searched Omar's Washington, D.C. home on Monday, weeks before November midterms in which she seeks reelection to represent Minnesota's 5th District, including Minneapolis. D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro confirmed multiple investigations are underway, including one into Omar's financial disclosures. Democrats condemned the timing as political targeting; Omar called it an attempt to weaponize federal law enforcement.
