VP Vance Rallies in Hendersonville; Announces $858M for Helene Road Repairs
Vice President JD Vance held a campaign rally Monday at Hyder Warehouse in Hendersonville, NC, drawing an estimated 200–300 attendees to support Republican candidates Jennifer Balkcom (NC-11 Congressional District) and Michael Whatley (U.S. Senate). During the event, Vance announced $858 million in additional federal disaster relief funding for the Department of Transportation to rebuild eight major road corridors destroyed by Hurricane Helene more than two years ago, including I-40 and the Pigeon River Gorge. Four Henderson County schools dismissed early ahead of the visit. Both candidates outlined priorities including lowering costs, protecting farmland, and continued support for western North Carolina's storm recovery as voters head to November midterm elections.
