Granite Bay, Loomis Voters Weigh $375 Fire Tax Measure B on Nov. 3

The South Placer Fire District has placed Measure B on the Nov. 3 ballot for voters in Granite Bay and Loomis, proposing a $375 uniform parcel tax to fund fire and emergency services. Two of the district's six fire stations have already closed due to staffing shortages, and Chief Darin Snedeker said a third operates below national standards. The district reports losing 112% of its workforce over six years, with seven firefighter-paramedic vacancies currently forcing remaining staff to work 72+ hours per week. If Measure B fails, the district could close three additional stations, increasing emergency response times for fire and medical calls.

Placer County Voters Face Measures H, G and Roseville Measure A on Nov. 3

Placer County voters will decide two ballot measures in the Nov. 3 general election that could change how the county's chief executive officer is removed from office and how Board of Supervisors vacancies are filled. Measure H would allow employment contracts between the Board and the CEO to establish removal procedures different from the existing three-vote requirement, while preserving board oversight. Roseville voters will separately consider Measure A, which would increase City Council salaries from $600 to $2,550 a month with annual inflation adjustments. All three measures amend local government charters and require a simple majority to pass.
