South Placer Fire District Measure B: $375 Parcel Tax on Nov. 3 Ballot for Granite Bay, Loomis

The South Placer Fire District is asking voters in Granite Bay and Loomis to approve Measure B, a $375 uniform parcel tax, on the Nov. 3 ballot to address staffing shortages and rising costs. Two of the district's six fire stations have already closed, and Fire Chief Darin Snedeker warned that three could close if the measure fails, citing a 112% workforce loss over six years and seven current firefighter-paramedic vacancies. Measure H would allow employment contracts between the Board and the CEO to establish removal procedures different from the existing three-vote requirement, while preserving board oversight. Roseville voters will separately consider Measure A, which would increase City Council salaries from $600 to $2,550 a month with annual inflation adjustments. All three measures amend local government charters and require a simple majority to pass.
