South Placer Fire District Measure B: $375 Parcel Tax on Nov. 3 Ballot for Granite Bay, Loomis

The South Placer Fire District is asking voters in Granite Bay and Loomis to approve Measure B, a $375 uniform parcel tax, on the Nov. 3 ballot to address staffing shortages and rising costs. Two of the district's six fire stations have already closed, and Fire Chief Darin Snedeker warned that three could close if the measure fails, citing a 112% workforce loss over six years and seven current firefighter-paramedic vacancies. The measure requires two-thirds voter approval to pass and replace the district's current annual tax. Former board member Jeff Moss opposes the measure, calling the station-closure warnings a scare tactic and arguing existing funds are sufficient.
