Durham County Jury Convicts Man in 2012 Murder of UNC Student Faith Hedgepeth

A Durham County jury found Miguel Salguero-Olivares guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree rape, first-degree sexual offense, and first-degree burglary in the September 2012 killing of 19-year-old UNC student Faith Hedgepeth at her Chapel Hill apartment. Superior Court Judge Keith Gregory sentenced the 33-year-old Durham resident to life in prison without parole for the murder charge, with consecutive sentences for the remaining counts totaling up to 696 months, plus lifetime sex-offender registration.
