Davis voters appeared to favor Measure W in initial election results released at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, with 72.1% support versus 27.9% opposed, according to unofficial Yolo County results. The measure would authorize the 1,250-unit Willowgrove development on 234 acres north of East Covell Boulevard, including low-, medium-, and high-density housing, units for low- and moderate-income households, 20 homes for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, retail space, and a community park. City leaders cite the project as addressing declining Davis Joint Unified School District enrollment, growing the tax base, and helping close a projected structural budget deficit. The Davis City Council unanimously approved the development in May; voter approval is required under Measure J-R-D to convert open or agricultural land to urban use. No opposition campaign was mounted and no statement of opposition appeared on the ballot.

Early results for Measure H, a $1.1 billion bond measure for the Los Rios Community College District, showed approximately 62% support among counted votes as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The measure requires a 55% majority to pass and would fund roof repairs, security upgrades, new STEM and arts facilities, student housing, and other construction at American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College, and Sacramento City College. If approved, the bond would add $16.55 annually per $100,000 of assessed property value to local homeowners' tax bills through 2051, with total costs including interest reaching approximately $1.79 billion. The district limited voting to Sacramento and Yolo counties, a decision outgoing trustee Robert Jones alleged was designed to exclude El Dorado County voters. Only about 26% of potential votes in Sacramento County and 34% in Yolo County had been counted at the time of reporting.

About 80% of the land is planted in row crops, with the remainder used for cattle grazing and a homestead. Mayor Donna Neville said the parcel is the only remaining connection between the North Fork and South Fork of Putah Creek. Funding came from Davis's Measure O open space parcel tax (10%), California Strategic Growth Council SALC grant funds, and Solano Land Trust contributions.

The Davis City Council approved a first-ever holiday construction moratorium during its Oct. 6 meeting, halting downtown projects requiring road closures or traffic control from Nov. 27 through Jan. 2. The pause aims to ease access for shoppers and visitors during the busy holiday period, according to Public Works Director Ryan Chapman. Exceptions include emergency repairs, court-ordered work, and the Lumberyard Project at 500 G St. Affected businesses were notified at least 30 days in advance; noncompliance could trigger stop-work orders or permit revocation. If the moratorium proves successful, the council will consider adopting it as an annual ordinance.
