NC 12 Closed at Pea Island After Oct. 21 Nor'easter; Hatteras Island Access Restricted
A second nor'easter in roughly three weeks caused approximately 800 feet of pavement damage at the Pea Island Visitor Center on N.C. 12, according to a North Carolina Department of Transportation news release dated Oct. 21. The highway remains closed from Marc Basnight Bridge to Rodanthe, with 1,800 feet of protective dunes lost at the visitor center.
