Travis Air Force Base Among Six Installations Hit by Suspected Cyberattack on Commissary Freezers
Travis Air Force Base in Solano County, California, was among at least six U.S. military installations where commissary refrigeration systems malfunctioned in late August, prompting a Pentagon investigation into whether hackers deliberately manipulated the equipment. The failures spoiled frozen food and disrupted grocery sales at on-base commissaries used by military personnel and their families. Investigating agencies include the Army Criminal Investigation Division's Cyber Field Office, the Defense Commissary Agency, the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, and a unit of U.S. Cyber Command working with French law enforcement on similar incidents in Europe. The Pentagon has not announced conclusions about the cause or identified anyone responsible.
