Clearwater Man Charged With Threats Against Trump at Park City Rally
Federal prosecutors charged 24-year-old Jaden John Read of Clearwater, Kansas, with making threats against President Trump after he posted comments on KAKE and KWCH Facebook posts about Trump's Monday rally in Park City. A Crime Stoppers tip Thursday led to his arrest Saturday in Clearwater; the posts allegedly referenced a .308 rifle and stated he had 'mapped out roofs around' the speech venue. U.S. Attorney Ryan A. Kriegshauser said political violence threats will not be tolerated while acknowledging First Amendment constraints. Read faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted; no detention hearing date or attorney was listed in court records as of Monday afternoon.
