Sen. Marshall Faces Lukewarm Support in Great Bend Ahead of November Senate Race
U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, who practiced OB-GYN in Great Bend for roughly 30 years before entering politics, faces an unexpectedly close re-election race against Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton. At a Barton Community College event and a Rotary Club lunch in nearby Ellinwood, residents expressed reluctance to publicly endorse either candidate. Retired banker Craig Neeland, Marshall's former loan officer, said he voted for Marshall in 2016 and 2020 but will not support him this November, citing Marshall's alignment with Trump. State Sen. Tory Blew, who represents Barton County, said she has heard from voters skipping Marshall on the ballot and expressed concern over early-voting numbers.
