Wanted Felon Arrested After Hours-Long SWAT Standoff in Yuba City
Raymundo Mesa Jr., 42, of Arbuckle (Colusa County), was arrested Thursday in the 1200 block of Payne Court in Yuba City after an hours-long standoff with the Yuba-Sutter Regional SWAT Team ended when he fell through a ceiling while hiding in an attic. Authorities had been searching for Mesa for more than six months on a Colusa County warrant involving unlawful possession of firearms, including a machine gun and suppressor. Police recovered a loaded 10 mm Glock 20 handgun inside the vacant home where he was found. Mesa faces two felonies—unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon—plus a misdemeanor resisting-police charge. He appeared for arraignment Monday at Sutter Superior Court, with a preliminary hearing set for Oct. 21.
