Rep. Gallagher Seeks FBI Support Against Illegal Marijuana Grows in Siskiyou County
Congressman James Gallagher (CA-01) called on Fox Business for federal investigative support to combat illegal marijuana growing operations, citing estimates of more than 7,000 illicit grows in Siskiyou County alone. He asked FBI Director Kash Patel to help local authorities investigate suspected connections to transnational criminal networks, including Chinese organized crime and Mexican drug cartels. Gallagher warned the operations damage forests and watersheds through hazardous pesticides and raised concerns about potential human trafficking tied to cultivation labor. He also criticized Governor Newsom for insufficient state resources to rural Northern California communities dealing with the problem.
