East Potomac Golf Course Closing Nov. 15, 2026; Commission Reviews Dec. 3
The Justice Department filed notice confirming plans to close East Potomac Park south of Buckeye Drive, including the golf course, on November 15, 2026, for renovation into a championship-level facility designed by Tom Fazio. The National Capital Planning Commission will review the rendering at its Dec. 3 meeting. A preliminary injunction issued Oct. 26 by U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes temporarily bars tree removal or damage at the course while litigation filed by the DC Preservation League and two golfers continues. Under a new lease agreement, the National Links Trust will cease operating the course as of Nov. 15.
