Trump Announces Nov. 15 Closure of East Potomac Golf Course Amid Active Court Injunction
President Trump announced Sunday on social media his intent to close the 106-year-old East Potomac Golf Course in Washington, D.C., starting Nov. 15 for a 15-month renovation, despite a federal judge ordering a halt to redevelopment plans until at least Oct. 26. The course, part of a national park and recreation facility open to residents of all income levels, is the subject of a lawsuit by the DC Preservation League and two golfers, with U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes having ordered key administration members to testify about recent tree removal. Democracy Forward, representing plaintiffs, called the course a "community jewel," while the government maintained there is "no final agency action" pending National Park Service review.
