Beach Hazards Statement for Southern California Through 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20
The NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard issued a beach hazards statement at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, valid from Sunday 9 a.m. through Tuesday 9 a.m. for Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast, and Los Angeles. The alert warns of dangerous rip currents, breaking waves from elevated surf, minor beach erosion, and possible tidal overflows especially in the Long Beach area. Residents are advised to remain out of the water or stay near occupied lifeguard towers, and to avoid rock jetties due to increased ocean drowning risk.
