Former Live Oak Councilman Sought in Alleged Political Sign Vandalism

The Sutter County Sheriff's Office is seeking Harseve Thiara (J.R. Thiara), a former Live Oak City Council member, for questioning after video allegedly captured him slashing and removing large political signs along Highway 99 between Ash Street and Bishop Avenue. Sheriff's public information officer Sierra Pedley confirmed deputies are attempting to contact Thiara as part of an investigation into alleged theft and vandalism. Kary Hauck of Sapphire Marketing Group, which printed the signs, filed a citizen's arrest affidavit on Oct. 24 after placing a trail camera in a peach tree the night of Oct. 22 to capture further activity. The two damaged 4-foot-by-8-foot signs reportedly total less than $400, meaning Thiara could face misdemeanor charges if located and charged.
