Off-Duty State Parks Officers Rescue Woman from Burning Car on Highway 70
Two off-duty California State Parks officers rescued a woman trapped in a burning vehicle after a rollover crash Friday morning at the southbound Nicolaus Avenue offramp off Highway 70 in Sutter County. The vehicle rolled about 10 feet down an embankment and caught fire around 6:30 a.m., trapping the driver inside. After extinguishers failed to control the spreading flames, one officer reached through a broken window and pulled the woman from the overturned car moments before it was fully engulfed. The woman suffered burns and was transported to a hospital; her condition was not immediately released.
